Doing Good Works Through Christ

Why?
I was asked that question several times when I and other founding members went in front of Greek Council to pitch the idea of creating a co-ed Christian-based service fraternity.
Why did I want to create this fraternity?
At the time, Greek life on campuses all over the country were getting bad reputations and my hope was to create an organization within the Greek system that was different than what was perceived by the outside world. There was no visible Christian-based Greek organization at the university. Though there was a fraternity and sorority that were founded on Christian principles, both groups strayed from that with the exception of going to chapel during New Member Education. As a university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, I thought it was time to have a Greek organization that fit in with the core principles of the university. I, along with several founding members, met with the Student Activities Office Director, then Greek Council, went through a probationary period and finally was granted full organization status from Student Government and full participation as a Greek organization with representation on Greek Council.
As we approach our 10th anniversary in January 2017, I am proud of the organization. It is one of the most visible organizations on campus and all members keep each other accountable for their actions maintaining a sound organization.
About Me…
Currently, I reside in Alexandria, Virginia (just outside Washington, DC) with my husband. We’ve been married since September 2015 but have been together since 2010.
I am currently working at a bank as an Administrative Assistant supporting five Vice-Presidents, fifty branches and approximately five-hundred Team Members.
I am in the early stages of pursuing the idea of going back to school to finish my theological education. I started at Trinity Lutheran Seminary after graduating from Capital University but due to conflict within the denomination and my home congregation, I did not finish my degree at Trinity. I am looking into the possibilities of going to school in the DC area or possibly Philadelphia to become a Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
